CA Pankaj Mundra is the co-founder of Nimai. He has extensive experience in investment banking & trade finance gained over 18 years of negotiating and re-structuring financing for corporates and advising them for optimum capital structure, structuring trade finance deals for importers and exporters globally. He started his career as one of the first industrial trainees at ICICI Bank and moved to Standard Chartered Bank in 2002. He joined ABN Amro Dubai in 2004 and Mashreq in 2007. He co-founded Nimai Group in 2010. Nimai group has served its corporate and banking clients in more than 40 countries,predominantly in Asia and Africa. He took the lead in the set-up of Nimai’s Bangladesh operations in 2011.
Being a chartered accountant (CA) by profession, he has served the CA fraternity for 7 years in various leadership positions. He led the Dubai chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), its largest overseas chapter, as a Chairman in 2016-17 and under his leadership ICAI Dubai invited 135 speakers, organized 50 events and also became the first overseas chapter to organize an overseas study trip to Georgia with 100 plus members. Nimai’s initial business on trade finance motivated him to take up the leadership position as the Vice Chairman of ITFA MENA region from 2016-2017. Under his leadership the membership of ITFA increased from 2 to 12 banks in the region. He has participated as a speaker or panelist in various seminars on trade finance, export credit agency financing at various forums in various countries. He has also delivered a talk on private equity to the CA fraternity and various professionals in Kenya , Australian CPAs in UAE and CA fraternity in Abu Dhabi. Recently he participated in a panel discussion in Tanzania organized by the East Africa PE Association.
After taking up the challenge of co-founding Nimai at the peak of the Global Financial Crisis in 2008- 2009, acting as the youngest chairman of ICAI largest overseas chapter and growing the ITFA Association, he has recently taken the new challenge of establishing a private equity fund under the Nimai umbrella with a unique theme and emerging market geographies.

Having completed his Masters in Economics and a MBA in International Business, Capt. Sunil Saraf has been guiding the Nimai Team on various fronts – trade finance, corporate finance and bank/NBFIs funding. With his business acumen and financial experience, coupled with practical knowledge, he has been involved in negotiations, structuring & spearheading the bank funding desk at Nimai.
While serving in the Indian Army, he was awarded the Operation Rakshak Medal in Aug 96 for Insurgency operations in Punjab, India. After his stint in the Indian Army, which taught him discipline and strategic planning, he joined the corporate world in 1996. He is a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset, clear vision and deep passion.
Capt. Sunil co-founded Nimai ICREA and Tanjay Real Estate. He has cross functional experience of 23 years in Indian Army, senior strategic corporate positions in international trade, finance, real estate and investment advisory in India, Africa and UAE. His last role was as head of Zodiac Clothing in GCC. He is a regular speaker at various forums on motivation and on finance.
Nisarg has more than 16 years of diverse experience in the finance field. He has been advising clients on raising debt, capital, restructuring and mergers & acquisitions. A strong communicator, Nisarg has leveraged his interpersonal skills to develop strong networks with individuals and institutions. Nisarg has been a member of the ICAI since 2002 and prior to his entrepreneurial journey he has worked in organizations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Nestle, and Emirates Investment. He is a regular speaker at various forums on subjects of trade finance, venture capital and raising finance for small to medium enterprises and regularly visits universities to share his knowledge with students. He is keenly interested in social service initiatives and participates regularly in various events for social causes in UAE and India.
He also addresses students on a regular basis and has been invited to speak at various institutes such as Middlesex University, Dubai, SP Jain School of Global Management, Dubai, BITS Pilani Dubai and also at the ICAI Knowledge village to address the students. He is keenly interested in social service initiatives and participates regularly in various events for social causes in UAE.
Dr. Tayeb A Kamali is the Director General for Education and Training Development at the UAE Ministry of Interior. He is also the Chairman of Emirates Driving Company and former Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), the United Arab Emirates’ largest higher education institution with 17 campuses throughout the UAE catering for 20,000 male and female students. For over two decades Dr. Kamali has spearheaded education, training, research and applied technology programs in the UAE and Middle East regions. This has been achieved by establishing and leveraging relationships with global leaders in academia, business and government.
Dr. Kamali has established numerous international conferences, focusing on leadership, education, innovation and entrepreneurship, including Education without Borders, Festival of Thinkers and the HCT Global Entrepreneurship 2010. Dr. Kamali founded the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT) in 1996, the commercial, research and training arm of HCT. Under his leadership CERT became an institutional member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Growth Companies. He is a founding Board Member of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP); a member of the World Economic Forum’s Regional Agenda Council on the Middle East & North Africa; a 2012 Rolex Awards for Young Laureates Jury member, and a member of the Cleveland Clinic International Advisory Board. Dr. Kamali is a board member of a number of institutions including the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government, the UAE Space Agency, Abu Dhabi School of Management, Gulf Medical University, The Boston Initiative, Outward Bound UAE, the Future Centre for Special Needs, and the Higher Education Sports Federation. He also chairs the Academic Committee for the MBR School of Government. He is also a Non-Executive Board Member at the Gulf Islamic Investments. He has received many education and leadership awards throughout his career including France’s highest award for education, the Ordres des PalmesAcadémiques in 2006 and the Human Resource Leadership Award from the World Human Resource Development Congress in 2006 and 2009.
James Mudie is an independent Banking Consultant based in Dubai UAE with over 20 years of Banking expereince in Australia and Japan. Mr. Mudie was a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Aozora Bank, Tokyo, responsible for the bank's extensive global principal investment portfolios.
Mr. Mudie joined Aozora Bank in early 2005 as part of a strategic management team charged with the rehabilitation of the bank after its purchase by a Cerberus led private equity consortium. While at Aozora Mr. Mudie managed various business units including real estate, leveraged and structured finance, structured credit and credit trading, special situations and distressed debt.
Previously Mr Mudie was General Manager, Capital Markets and head of structured credit investment and credit trading at Shinsei Bank, Tokyo. Mr Mudie was previously part of Westpac Banking Corporation's financial markets team and held positions in both Sydney and Tokyo. Mr Mudie holds a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Sydney, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from Queensland University, Brisbane.
Mr. Mudie is a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ms. Charity Muya, the first female accountant of Kenya and former Director of KCB Bank . She has over 40 years of experience and her professional qualifications include being a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Certified Public Secretary, FCCA, FCPA and CIFA. She was among the first women in Kenya to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1972.
She pursued qualifications in chartered accountancy from the Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK) and graduated in 1976, making her the first female certified public accountant (CPA).
Charity has worked as a full-time consultant with the Government of Kenya at the Ministry of Finance in the Department of Investments and Public Enterprises as a Restructuring Expert and was the Chief Finance Officer at Dyer and Blair Investment Bank, a leading investment bank which was awarded the best investment bank award in 2010.
She has worked as a Disbursement Officer with IDB Capital formerly known as the Industrial Development Bank where she has negotiated the lines of credit from the World Bank and DFI’s which include DEG and DIB
An eminent Banker, started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank in Bangladesh in 1975. In 1997, he was appointed CEO of bank’s Bangladesh operations and later in 2000 continued as CEO of ANZ and SCB (post takeover by SCB). In 2002 he joined Bangladesh Bank as Deputy governor and was responsible for the supervision and driving the regulatory reforms in the banking sector.
He was the chairman if the National Task Force on Anti-Money Laundering, the National Committee for the implementation of Basel II and member of the Nationalized Commercial Banks Working Group, National Advisory Committee on Small & Medium Enterprise; Sub-committee on UN conventions and Anti-Terrorism, constituted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served on the governing body of PKSF. From 2007 to 2017 he served as Chairman of the Board of BRAC Bank and bKash Ltd and several BRAC entities, Managing Director of BRAC and a member of the Board of BRAC International.
He was Vice Chairman of the Banker’s Association of Bangladesh and the Employers Federation. He is the member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund; Alliance for Bangladesh Workers Safety (USA). Global Alliance for Banking on Values and Performance based Funds initiative of IFC/ World Bank Washington. In Oct 2015, he took over as Chief Executive of Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre
Anil K Khandelwal, PhD, is a former chairman and Managing director of Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank. He is known for his pioneering work in transforming Bank of Baroda into a valuable brand. He is a multi-awarded Banker who holds the distinction of being the only Indian Banker to get Life time achievement award for his contribution to financial sector by Asian Banker, Singapore. He is an international key-note speaker on leadership, governance and transformation. He authored the well-known Khandelwal committee on HR reforms in public Sector Banks.
He has been a UNDP consultant to banking reform commission, Government of Tanzania & Visiting professor, Asian Management Institute, Manila. He has been on the board of several companies and advisor to international consulting firms including Accenture, Booz & Co, Hewitt and KPMG.
He has also been on the Board of several companies and member of investment committees of some funds sponsored by leading groups. Till recently, he was a member, Bank Board Bureau, set up by Government for appointing full time Directors on the board of public sector banks and suggesting reforms measures. Khandelwal is a well-known thought leader, CEO- coach, advisor. Dinesh is a private equity professional with over 25 years of experience in investing in Emerging markets, predominantly India-related businesses with significant years of Partner/leadership roles. He has been the founding member of 3 early-stage private equity franchises – India business of Standard Chartered Private Equity, Alcazar Capital and Multiples and worked with established funds like Actis and ICICI Venture. He has a strong understanding of Indian corporate/taxation regulations in the context of equity transactions.
Prior to Broad Peak Capital Advisors LLP, he was a Partner at Multiples Alternate Asset Management, an India focused private equity platform with US$ 1 billion under management. At JP Morgan, he led the India business for the US$750M Private Capital Asia group where he sourced several equity and equity related investment opportunities in India, and supported many transactions in SE Asia. He also managed the existing investment portfolio of US$ 450M and developed exit opportunities. Prior to JP Morgan, he was a founding Partner at Alcazar, an emerging markets private equity business in Dubai, where he conceptualized and launched a US$ 200M India focused fund on infrastructure services and logistics. Before Alcazar, Dinesh was with Standard Chartered Private Equity where he was part of the founding team of the India office and helped establish the private equity franchise in India.
Dinesh has led transactions through the entire life cycle, including origination, strategic analysis, financial valuation, negotiation, documentation structuring, portfolio management and exit. His past roles have also involved managing investment and operations teams, supporting legal/ Compliance and LP reporting. He has been an early stage investor in businesses that have gone on to become established names in their domains.
Dinesh also teaches courses on private equity and entrepreneurship as a guest faculty at various management institutes. Dinesh has a Bachelors degree in Physics and MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Ambi Venkateswaran is an independent Banking Consultant based in San Francisco, California. His consulting expertise is in the area of Risk Management for Banks and Financial Institutions. Ambi has over 35 years of experience as a Banking Executive, including 26 years with Bank of America Corporation.
His numerous assignments there included: Credit Risk positions in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Mumbai; Head of Asia Banking in Los Angeles; Senior VP and Country Head India; and Managing Director and Head of North Asia Corporate Banking, based in Hong Kong. After his tenure with Bank of America, he worked for five years as Chief Risk Officer, Mashreq bank, Dubai. Subsequently, he was Chief Risk Officer, Aozora Bank Ltd., Tokyo for four years.
Ambi has an engineering degree from the University of Kerala and is an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
A senior retail banker and payments professional, Mr. Sachin Bountra has a unique blend of experience working with global financial institutions as well as a start-up Fintech environment. He has previously managed consumer portfolios at ABN AMRO, where he was the Vice President and Head of Emerging Products and Innovation, UAE & American Express, India and led the emerging payments function at VISA for Middle East & North Africa.
His experience spans Cards, Payments, Wealth & Consumer Finance. He is also the solo founder of a bill payments company and is well versed with digital marketing and digital payments. Sachin holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi. He is passionate about using innovation as the primary lever to drive a business P&L.He is the current Founder and CEO of Finnov8 Solutions, UAE.
Thomas is a seasoned finance professional with extensive work experience gained from global, regional and local entities. His main areas of expertise are:
